Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide compassionate patient care and support in data collection, planning and implementation of care.

The role includes vital signs, intake and output, EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy and specimen collection, with documentation of all duties. Follows treatment plans and assists in maintaining patient comfort and safety, while floating as needed per policy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Health care specialty training preferred.
• BLS certification within sixty (60) days of employment or transfer.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Attend St. Luke’s University Health Network APC and MT courses or evidence of previous training determined through competency testing.

Responsibilities

• Vital signs, intake and output measurements, EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and documentation.
• Follows treatment plans as directed by licensed personnel.
• Performs necessary functions to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction with service.
• Performs patient mobilization using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
• Ensures safe, appropriate, quality patient care and communicates changes in patient conditions to the unit team.
• Restocks unit supplies and participates in unit-based performance improvement.
