Job summary

Visiting Angels Lufkin, TX seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support seniors in Deep East Texas, including Livingston and nearby towns. The role emphasizes compassionate companionship and hands-on home care in a community-focused office.

The PCA helps with medication administration, mobility, personal care, meals, light housekeeping, and errands, while maintaining safety and dignity for clients in their homes. Training is provided, with opportunities to grow within a caring local team.

Qualifications

• Passion to serve others and provide compassionate care.
• Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care.
• Knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• 2 years elderly care experience in a facility or with an agency; CNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility.
• Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Assist with routine exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals with client input.
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them to appointments.
• Perform light housekeeping duties.
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
• Report any unusual incidents.
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.

Patient Care Assistant - PCA Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (Transferring assistance using hoyer lifts or gait belts or walkers and wheelchairs.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (Bathing assistance and incontinence care)
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop (grocery shopping, salon, dr appointments)
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Patient Care Assistant - PCA Requirements

• Passion to serve others - a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate
• Experience with Bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience with Transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics
• Knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia
• 2 years professional experience with the elderly in a Facility or with an agency or have a CNA certification
