Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to perform routine duties under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will provide care to medically ill patients, observe changes, and help maintain a clean, safe environment.

Orientation requires completing Clinical Orientation during the first full week, 8am–5pm, and BLS certification is required prior to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Care for medically ill acute or sub-acute patients.
• Performs direct patient care.
• Observes and reports changes in the behavior and physical status of patients.
• Provides a clean and safe environment.
• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, oral and denture care, skin and nail care, bed making, and maintaining a clean environment).
• Promoting and maintaining mobility (ambulating, transferring, transporting, turning, positioning, lifting, and performing range of motion exercises).
• Assisting with nutrition and hydration (feeding and assisting patients with eating and drinking).
• Assisting with toileting and elimination (bedpan/urinal/bedside commode, catheter care, and care of the incontinent patient).
• Performs data gathering and recognizes abnormal findings (measures and records vital signs, weight, oral intake, output including urine, emesis, and stool).

Your Role

NOTE: Orientation requires your availability to complete Clinical Orientation on your first full week (Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm).

• Registered Nurse (RN)/Nurse Manager [JC 031001] and/or RN/Assistant Nurse Manager [JC 030303]

NOTE: Minimum experience for float pool assignments is six (6) months.

Preferred Experience

• One (1) year of job-related experience preferred.

Required Certification/License/Registry

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

NOTE: BLS certification is required prior to performing patient care. T allahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) may provide the opportunity for BLS certification training on-site as part of clinical orientation (as needed).
