Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support care for medically ill patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The role includes direct patient care, monitoring and reporting changes, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Preferred candidates have one year of related experience; BLS certification is required prior to patient care. Orientation is provided during clinical onboarding week.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required prior to patient care.
• Minimum six months experience for float pool assignments.
• One year of job-related experience preferred.
• No formal education required.

Responsibilities

• Care for medically ill acute or sub-acute patients.
• Performs direct patient care.
• Observes and reports changes in the behavior and physical status of patients.
• Provides a clean and safe environment.
• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.).
• Promotes and maintains mobility (ambulating, transferring, ROM).
• Assists with nutrition and hydration (feeding).
• Assists with toileting and elimination (bedpan/urinal/commode, catheter care).
• Performs data gathering and records vital signs, weight, intake/output.
• Orientation required to complete Clinical Orientation on first full week.
• Reports To: RN/Nurse Manager or RN/Assistant Nurse Manager.
