Job summary

The Mayo Clinic in La Crosse, Wisconsin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The position performs duties within the scope of unlicensed nursing personnel, helping ensure patient safety and comfort while contributing to a collaborative clinical team.

Weekend and shift flexibility may be required as part of a part-time schedule; compensation reflects the responsibilities

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Completion of 12 college credits OR high school diploma with Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.
• Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.

Additional Qualifications :

Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

License or Certification :

Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
