Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff by handling delegated direct and indirect patient care tasks. This role works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs skills within the scope allowed for unlicensed personnel.

The position requires at least 18 years old, with preferred completion of 12 college credits or a high school diploma/GED plus Nursing Assistant training. BLS certification is required or provided during orientation.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Completion of 12 college credits or a high school diploma/GED with Nursing Assistant training (preferred).
• Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from AHA or Red Cross is required or provided upon orientation.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.

Additional Qualifications : Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

License or Certification : Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
