Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Portland, Oregon, seeks a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to assist professional staff, support patient rehabilitation, and uphold safety on the IPU. You will help with ADLs, exercise care, and maintain a clean, safe environment for children.

The role requires CNA and BLS certifications; pediatric experience is preferred. This position offers opportunities in a renowned pediatric care network across the U.S. and Canada.

Qualifications

• CNA certification is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience with pediatric patients is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe environment by following safety standards and procedures.
• Sets up overhead frames on beds and cribs.
• Familiar with traction setups used on IPU.
• Performs core clinical skills (temperature, BP, pulse, respiratory rate, cast care, bladder scanning, dipstick, guaiac).
• Delivers high-quality service to patients, coworkers and the public.
• Demonstrates proper body mechanics when lifting/transferring patients or equipment.

Job Description

Provides assistance to professional staff in completion of patient-related tasks which include but are not limited to:

• Assist patients with ADL's;
• Assist patients with their exercise (rehab);
• Assist staff to maintain a safe, clean environment on the IPU.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe environment by following safety standard policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates ability to set up overhead frame on beds and cribs.
• Familiar with traction setups commonly used on IPU.
• Demonstrates ability to perform clinical skills taught during the current year. These include but are not limited to: temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, cast care, bladder scanning, dipstick, and guaiac testing.
• Understands the importance of providing quality service to patients, coworkers and the public.
• Strives to exceed expectations through the application of good customer service skills, both internally and externally.
• Demonstrates proper body mechanics when lifting/transferring patients and/or equipment without injury.

Required Qualifications

• Certificate Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED 1 year Nursing Assistant
