Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified individual who performs direct care in the department setting. The PCA II maintains current certification in patient care and assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care, and helps maintain a safe environment under the supervision of the RN, as long as activities do not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certification in Patient Care required (M.A. / CNA / EMT / Paramedic / Patient Care Tech, etc.).
• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain current.
• Six months previous experience as Monitor Technician, preferred.
• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office, preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement.

St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, 401K, medical/dental/vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and voluntary benefits. Estimated total compensation ranges from $18.90 to $28.01 per hour, depending on experience and credentials.
