Job summary

St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities, helping them feel safer and more comfortable. You will assist with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and preparing rooms, while aiding nurses with routine tasks and vital sign monitoring.

Your dependable, observant approach and willingness to follow coaching will help improve patient comfort and outcomes in a busy hospital setting in East Texas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduated from an accredited nursing program or 1 year direct patient care experience required.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff
• Monitors and records vital signs
• Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output
• Obtains and records daily weight
• Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities. Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms. Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.
