Job summary

St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks a Patient Care Assistant to help patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with daily activities in a hospital setting.

You will support nursing staff with vital signs, hygiene, mobility, and basic care tasks, while monitoring patient conditions and reporting changes. This role requires compassionate care and ability to follow directions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA within 14 days.
• Preferred: prior healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists in personal hygiene and mobility.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

Job Requirements
