Job summary

St. Luke’s Health–Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson, TX is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily activities and assist nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and room preparation.

You’ll help with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and other comfort measures, while staying observant of changes in patients’ conditions and accepting coaching. This role requires a High School Diploma or GED and may require graduation from an accredited nursing program or equivalent

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduated from an accredited nursing program or has 1 year direct patient care experience.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Performs blood glucose testing with glucose meter.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities. Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms. Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

Job Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED
