Job summary

MemorialCare is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I to provide basic patient care under RN supervision in Fountain Valley, CA. The role supports daily living activities, data collection, and safe patient handling while maintaining privacy and teamwork.

The PCA I participates in patient care delivery and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure quality outcomes. Per diem status, day shift, and hourly pay reflect the position’s flexible scheduling and responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Minimum of one year acute care experience preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or enrollment in a nursing program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates the ability to safely, timely, and competently perform assigned duties.
• Follows directions and communicates with the Registered Nurse and other members of the Healthcare Team in organized, clear and timely manner.
• Collects and documents information pertinent to the patient’s status in the patient’s electronic medical record and notifies Registered Nurse of changes in patient’s condition.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material.
• Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations.
• Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion at all times.
• Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies, proper use of equipment, and maintain educational competencies and licensure.
• Ability to be at work and be on time.
• Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
• Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner and prioritize and multitask.
