Job summary

CHI St. Vincent Morrilton is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily activities, hygiene, mobility, and feeding while assisting nursing staff with vitals and room preparation.

You will monitor vitals, document intake/output, measure weight, and assist in admissions, transfers, and discharges. A spirit of teamwork and patient safety is essential in this hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or High School GED and BLS/CPR within 30 days.
• Preferred prior experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff. Monitors and records vital signs. Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output. Obtains and records daily weight. Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter.
• Reports changes in patient’s status promptly to RN. Performs as a sitter or patient care companion when needed. Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process.
• Performs unit housekeeping needs. Delivers specimens, picks up medications and other items. Acts as receptionist for unit; has limited use of hospital information systems per policy.
• Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel. Updates assigned bed status. Answers call lights and telephone.
• Keeps patient environment clean, performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and communicates with patient’s family, physicians, and unit personnel in a courteous, professional manner.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you'll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients' conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.
