Job summary

CHI St. Vincent, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily activities, monitor vitals, and assist nursing staff in the acute care setting.

You will help with hygiene, mobility, feeding, and basic room preparation while documenting intake/output and weights, under RN delegation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 30 days of start.
• One of: Certified Nursing Assistant/EMT; completion of Fundamentals of Nursing in an accredited RN/LPN program; minimum 6 months direct patient care in acute care in last 24 months; or verifiable Certified Patient Care Tech (CPCT).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Patient Care Assistant*

you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You’re diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

• Job Requirements*Required
• High School Graduate or
• High School GED and
• Basic Life Support – CPR, within 30 Days and
• One of the following criteria must be met:
• Certified Nursing Assistant/EMT, or
• Completion of “Fundamentals of Nursing” in an accredited RN or LPN Nursing Program, or
• Minimum of 6 months of direct patient care in an acute care environment within the last 24 months, or
• Verifiable Certified Patient Care Tech, CPCT, issued by American Allied Health
