Job summary

USA Health seeks a compassionate assistive staffing member to support nursing teams in Mobile. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and help maintain clean patient areas while reporting changes to the RN.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and accurate documentation for ongoing patient care. The position requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and BCLS certification, with experience substitutable by education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• BCLS certification required upon hire.
• Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

Responsibilities

• Receives verbal/written assignments from RN
• Assists patients with activities of daily living
• Reports changes in patient condition to RN
• Maintains clean and stocked patient areas and rooms
• Cleans equipment between patient uses
• Operates unit equipment as required
• Runs unit errands as needed
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Answers patient call lights promptly
• Keeps hallway clear of equipment
• Distributes water and ice
• Maintains 24-hour urine collections
• Performs catheter checks and blood glucose monitoring
• Takes and records vital signs and weight
• Records intake and output including NG, chest tube, ostomy, Foley
• Signs/initials documentation
• Documents patient turns and repositioning
• Reports skin conditions to RN
• Assists with daily flow sheet completion
• Responds to overhead pages
• Participates in orientation of new employees
• Adheres to Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Maintains electronic and paper medical records
• Completes mandatory department and hospital requirements
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule and overtime as required
• Related duties as assigned
