Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified professional who provides direct patient care. The PCA II maintains current certification in patient care and assists patients with activities of daily living, offers basic nursing care, and helps maintain a safe environment under the supervision of an RN, ensuring that activities do not interfere with primary responsibilities such as dysrhythmia monitoring.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Training

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current certification in Patient Care (e.g., M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech).
• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate preferred; must be maintained if obtained.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required; must be maintained.
• At least six months of experience as a Monitor Technician preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification upon hire preferred.
• EKG certification upon hire preferred.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certification within 6 months of hire and maintained as per facility policy.

The estimated total compensation range for this role is $18.90 to $28.01 per hour, depending on skills, experience, education, credentials, and licensure. The exact starting salary will be determined at the time of hire.
