Riverside Health in Newport News, VA seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support RNs with direct patient care, vital signs, EKGs, wound care and basic phlebotomy. This full-time role offers flexible hours across units.

You will document care in the EMR, assist with admissions, discharges and transfers, and help maintain a clean, safe environment. Requires high school diploma or GED; CPR/BLS at hire; CNA, EMT-B, CMA or related program eligibility in Virginia.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required/preferred.
• 1 year healthcare experience in hospital setting preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required upon hire (AHA/ARC).
• CNA license in VA or acceptable equivalents (EMT-B, CMA/RMA, MA program with 80 clinical hours) accepted in lieu of CNA.

Responsabilités

• EMR data collection and entry per RHS standards.
• Follow plan of care and perform treatments under RN supervision.
• Perform vital signs, EKGs, blood draws and specimen collection as competency allows.
• Maintain resources and ensure clean, safe patient environment.
• Assist with admitting, discharge, or transfer of patients as directed by charge nurse.

Newport News, VirginiaHiring Range$16.80 - $21.83/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.Full Time Flexible HoursWorks under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of the patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.What you will doDemonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include the following procedures dependent upon unit/facility competency requirements vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
