Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Assistant/Nurse Assistant for the Discharge Unit Labor Pool (7am–7pm). Under RN supervision you provide patient care, assist with wound care, EKGs, phlebotomy, and splinting, and help with admissions, discharges, and transfers across units.

Minimum qualifications include High School Diploma or GED (preferred), CPR/BLS certification on hire, and CNA or approved alternatives (EMT-B, CMA/RMA).

In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives. **What you will do*** Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.* Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include the following procedures dependent upon unit/facility competency requirements vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.* Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.* Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
