Job summary

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a casual, as-needed Patient Care Assistant for the 4 South Med Surg unit. You will support nursing by performing patient care activities under supervision.

Responsibilities include direct and indirect non-professional care, vital signs, charting, escorting patients, ADL assistance, and clerical duties, while ensuring efficient, protocol-based care in the 4 South department.

Qualifications

• Must have 80%+ on Medical Terminology exam.
• CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
• Glucoscan within 90 days of employment.
• 1–2 years of experience preferred.

Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a casual, as neededPatient Care Assistant to work with ourteam in the 4 South Department.

The PatientCare Assistantworks in asupporting role to nursing by conducting patient care activities. Applicants provide direct and indirect non-professional nursing careunder nursing or medical supervision.Primarily this includes but is not limited to performing duties such as cleaning, taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, charting, escorting patients, assisting with activities of daily living, managing clerical dutiesand ordering and receiving supplies.

The Clinical Observation Unit can have a broad range of adult patients ambulatory and non-ambulatory, that meet initial criteria for observation. The department will serve to provide efficient protocol-based care to patients with well-defined diagnosis or presenting symptoms such as chest pain, COPD, asthma & congestive heart failure.

To be considered, candidates must provide documentation of an 80%or higher score on the Medical Terminology exam.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Medical Assistant degree or West Virginia C.N.A. license or PCT Certification required
• CPR within 90 days of employment
• Glucoscan within 90 days of employment
• 1-2 years of experience preferred.
