Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join the Nursing Float department. The role involves assisting patients with daily activities, providing basic nursing care, and maintaining a safe environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Required CNA certification with high school diploma; BLS within 30 days is preferred. Prior acute care or physician’s office experience is helpful; phlebotomy and EKG certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Education, Experience, Training

• Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (as Applicable Required)

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), State approved Certification required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
