Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff. You will help patients with daily living activities and participate in maintaining a safe care environment under RN direction.

Requirements include a high school diploma, Illinois CNA certification, and BLS. Preferred are phlebotomy and EKG certifications with a minimum six months acute care experience. Night shifts available and competitive benefits offered.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. 1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. 2. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Illinois approved Certification required.
3. 3. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
4. 4. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
5. 5. Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
6. 6. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
7. 7. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $18.00 to $26.03. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
