Job summary

Shrewsbury Surgery Center, part of United Surgical Partners International, is seeking a Patient Care Aide (PCA). This role supports patient care by helping with linens, ambulation, transport, and documenting vitals in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The PCA will work under nurses and clinicians to maintain a clean environment, assist during examinations and procedures, and ensure safety and comfort for diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant License - preferred.
  • Current BLS.

Responsibilities

  • Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
  • Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for peri-operative nursing care according to accepted standards.
  • Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in aseptic technique.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand the unique needs of each age group of the patient population.
  • Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
  • Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
  • Uses good body mechanics.
  • Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
  • Able to take vital signs, apply monitors, and document appropriately.
  • Performs procedures within scope of practice, including, but not limited to finger stick for blood glucose, bladder scanning, and straight catheterization.
  • Informs Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
  • Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent
Certified Nursing Assistant License - preferred
Current BLS

Patient Care Aide (PCA) at Shrewsbury Surgery Center

Provides direct patient care by assisting patients with changing linens, ambulation, and transport. Maintains a clean and orderly patient care environment. Assists during patient examinations and procedures. Obtains and records patient vital signs, provides nutritional intake and reports results and observations. Demonstrates the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant License - preferred
  • Current BLS.
  • Demonstrates necessary clinical competency.
Pay Range:

17.00/hr – 21.00/hr (Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.)
