Job summary

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center’s Progressive Care team is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to join our Glendale, AZ operation. This full-time Day shift role supports patient care areas, coordinates between physicians, nurses and departments, and handles admissions, discharges and charting.

The position requires a high school diploma and about 1 year of medical clerical experience; Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card may be required. Weekend/holiday rotations apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; working knowledge allowed.
• About 1 year of medical clerical experience; hospital/clinic setting preferred.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card may be required for hire.
• Strong organizational, communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support operating efficiency and communication.
• Processes admissions, bed assignments, labels, and outside records.
• Maintains patient records; ensures charts are scanned or filed and accessible.
• Coordinates patient appointments and discharge planning.
• Maintains supplies and tracks equipment such as ID scanners and laptops.
• Acts as liaison among physicians, nurses, and departments; supports care delivery.
