Job summary

Northern Valley Indian Health is seeking a Patient Accounts Technician to support the Fiscal Department with daily billing activities and claims processing in private medical and dental insurance, Medi-Cal, and Denti-Cal. This role requires knowledge of decoding and processing a variety of payer types and staying current with billing regulations.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of medical billing experience, strong typing and 10-key skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal, EAPC, PACT, Medicare and private medical/dental insurance billing knowledge.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of medical/dental billing experience or equivalent.
• Typing速度 50 wpm from clear copy.
• Accurate 10-key by touch.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to prioritize daily tasks independently.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Medicare, Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal, PACT, and private billings (electronic and paper).
• Monitor claims using department metrics and status updates.
• Stay current with ICD/CPT coding and state/federal billing rules.
• Respond to billing inquiries accurately and promptly.
• Maintain billing files and apply updates from the department.
• Post incoming insurance payments and balance postings.
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances when applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
