Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous billing experience required.
• Must be self-motivated with well-developed organizational skills and computer experience, including Word, Excel, and database functions.
• Must possess strong communication skills; works well with external organizations and employees.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with billing questions, in person or on the phone; follows up on calls and documents.
• Reconciles LabCorp bills for proper funds allocation.
• Uses RPI LabCorp dx code online and an Excel spreadsheet.
• Researches and processes patient refunds and/or credit balances.
• Performs payment posting.
• Handles Medicaid pending claims.
• Evaluates accounts for collections activities.
• Processes return mail and updates patient accounts as needed.
• Cleans up and monitors old billing alerts on accounts.
• Addresses claim/action errors and coding corrections.
• Maintains passwords/logins for insurance-related websites for staff.
• Keeps confidential information confidential.
• Delivers strong internal and external customer service.
• Follows supervisor’s instructions.
• Physical attendance is essential to perform duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
