Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Benefit Representative to manage insurance and benefit analysis prior to service delivery. The role requires strong knowledge of various insurances and payor requirements, and involves reviewing appointments, collecting financial information, and securing authorizations.

The position also entails insurance management, coordinating referral requirements, and working with insurers to ensure timely reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Experience with insurance terminology, medical terminology, and medical insurance plans.
• Ability to complete financial clearance (Mercy payment plan, EPPC, bad debt resolution, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Review patient appointments and/or admissions.
• Obtain information related to out-of-pocket financial responsibility.
• Secure necessary authorizations and manage insurance requirements.
• Coordinate with insurance companies to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Serve as a mentor to fellow Patient Benefit staff.
