Job summary

Rhode Island Medical Imaging is seeking a Part-time Billing/Authorization Specialist to support our imaging services. The role involves securing prior authorizations, verifying coverage, and communicating costs to patients, contributing to cash flow and patient satisfaction.

A minimum of one year in a similar role is preferred, with emphasis on accuracy and HIPAA compliance. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement after training, with on-site training at our Warwick, RI corporate office

Qualifications

• Knowledge of third-party billing requirements.
• Ability to handle collection of payments while remaining effective.
• Ability to adapt to changes in collection rules by law or management.
• Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtain prior authorizations from insurers for selected exams and document in the system.
• Obtain insurance verifications and out-of-pocket estimates prior to exams.
• Explain out-of-pocket expenses to patients and record accounts accordingly.
• Assist patients with questions regarding benefits and payments.
• Run daily eligibility reports for hospital sites to verify insurance information.
• Utilize billing and scheduling software to maintain efficient workflow.
• Understand HCFA 1500 billing forms and payor guidelines.
