Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, a 170-bed acute care hospital, seeks an Admissions Clerk to manage the admission of inpatients, outpatients and ED arrivals. You will collect demographic and insurance data and explain hospital policies to patients or their representatives.

You will route information to ancillary departments, support billing with accurate data, and participate in CQI activities to improve access and service quality.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Additional languages preferred.
• Excellent customer services skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle efficient and orderly admission of inpatients, outpatients and ED admissions.
• Collect demographic and insurance information and explain hospital policies.
• Interview patients or representatives and enter information into the admissions system.
• Provide information about billing, patient rights, HIPAA, and visiting hours.
