JSSA in Rockville, MD is seeking a dependable Patient Account Specialist to join our Accounting Team. This full-time role will post payments from third-party billing and client payments, handle billing and collection tasks, and ensure entries align with agency policy.

You will work under the Director of Patient Accounts, relying on Excel and EHR systems to input data, review remittance advices, correct denials, and keep payer information up to date.

Qualifications

High school diploma.
Minimum of three years’ experience processing third party billings and collecting appropriate reimbursement.
Knowledge of third-party billing and reimbursement requirements.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 with advanced skills in Excel.
Experience with electronic billing.

Responsibilities

Post payments from third-party billing and client payments to client accounts.
Import Remittance Advices into the EHR and post to accounts.
Review Remittance Advices for denials or deductions and post adjustments.
Post client self-pay payments to client accounts.
Correct processing of claim denials/rejections.
Update the EHR with new insurance/demographic information for clients.
Identify consistent reasons for third party claim denials.
Notify the Director of Patient Accounts of recurring denials and suggest changes.
Notify staff if an insurance policy is no longer active.
Create finance entries in the EHR to document communications.
Keep abreast of third-party payer requirements.
Suggest alternative solutions to problems.

Job description

JSSA is looking for a dependable and detail oriented individual to join our Accounting Team. The Patient Account Specialist is a full time role based out of our Rockville, Maryland, office, and supervised by the Director of Patient Accounts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, posting payments from both third-party billing and client payments to the proper account, client/third-party billing and collection activities. This position is expected to complete routine assignments independently within the limitations of the Agency's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Import Electronic Remittance Advices into the EHR and ensure they properly post to the client’s account
Review Remittance Advices for any denials or deductions and post any necessary adjustments
Post client self-pay payments to client accounts
Make necessary corrections to process claim denials and/or rejections for payment
Provide updates on third party payer changes to billing requirements
Update the EHR with new insurance and demographic information on current clients as necessary
Identify consistent reasons for third party claim denials.
Notify the Director of Patient Accounts and suggest procedural changes, which would avoid future denials
Notify other Patient Accounts staff if an insurance policy is no longer active
Create finance entries as needed in the EHR to document client/staff/insurance communications.
Keep abreast of third-party payer requirements
Notify the Director of Patient Accounts of consistent and re-occurring problems in routine processing, which need addressing.
Suggest alternative solutions to the problems
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Patient Accounts
