Patient Accounts Billing Representative II

Located in Los Angeles, Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization includes a standalone 55-bed hospital and six outpatient and residential facilities with capacities ranging from 14 to 134 beds.

We are hiring a motivated and skilled Patient Accounts Billing Representative II responsible for managing client financials from admission to discharge. The role involves billing and transmitting EDI claims, Medicare claims, HMO Risk Medicare claims, and Commercial Insurance claims, entering data into billing systems daily, researching and resubmitting claim denials, and posting payments. The position also requires interviewing inpatients and/or their families upon admission.

Minimum Experience Required

• One to Two years of experience in Medicare, HMO Risk Medicare, and Commercial Insurance patient billing.
• One year of general typing and clerical experience.

Minimum Education Required

• High school diploma.

Essential Skills

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
• Typing speed of 45 W.P.M.
• Ability to work with constant interruptions.
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to relate to others and interact with mentally ill individuals.
• Knowledge of current office computer software and ability to operate office machines, including ten-key adding machines.
• Experience with computerized billing systems and spreadsheet software.
• Ability to process detailed information accurately.
