Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Two years of additional education preferred.
• Experience in health care with emphasis in patient accounts billing and collections preferred.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of persons.
• May travel within the region. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance will be required.
• Must possess honesty, integrity, and caring to represent Hawarden Regional Healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. Complies with HIPAA and HRH policies.
• Assist in developing and implementing department goals and objectives.
• Maintain current technical skills by reviewing literature, attending seminars, and daily peer contact.
• Provide cost estimates and communicate pre-service patient liability based on expected charges and coverage.
• Coordinate refiling of insurance claims and track/correct rejected claims.
• Assist in daily clinic deposits and reconciliations when needed.
• Keep current with computer system updates and vendor releases.
• Answer incoming calls to the Business Office and assist with needs.
• Greet visitors and assist with their inquiries.
• Maintain patient account records and manage self-pay collections.
• Update aging accounts to ensure timely reimbursement and avoid denials.
• Maintain up-to-date insurance information across carriers.
• Participate in meetings, training, and continuous quality improvement.
