Job summary

Child Mind Institute, based in New York, is looking for a Patient Accounts Associate who will handle billing and invoicing duties efficiently. This role requires working closely with clinicians and patients to resolve billing issues while maintaining accurate financial records.

The candidate will work in a hybrid model, spending four days in the Midtown office and one day remotely. The position includes a competitive compensation package with great benefits to support work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Process all payments in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Manage billing related documentation including invoices, credit card authorizations, and consents.
  • Facilitate open balances, payment plans, follow-up and escalation to ensure accounts are consistently up to date.
  • Provide high quality customer service in daily interaction with patients and families.
  • Understand mental health billing codes and regulations, communicating with patients and clinicians.
  • Review daily transactions and process corrections.
  • Liaise with insurance companies on patients' behalf when necessary.
  • Resolve urgent and sensitive issues with discretion, protecting personal health information.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Position Details

As the Patient Accounts Associate, you will process invoices in a timely manner, manage patient billing and accounts receivable, and ensure collection of outstanding payments. Furthermore, you will work closely with our clinicians, patients, and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies, track payments, and maintain accurate financial records.

Reporting to the Senior Patient Accounts Associate, this is a full-time, non-exempt, hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote) position located in our Midtown, NY office.

Job Responsibilities

The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range. In addition, this salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
