Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Patient Account Representative in our San Antonio, TX office to support A/R follow-up for healthcare clients. You'll handle inbound/outbound calls with patients and insurers to resolve accounts and ensure policy adherence.

Work from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT, with no remote work during training; after training, hybrid option may be available. Strong communication, EOB knowledge, and attention to detail are valued as you collaborate with clients and internal

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED or 3 years relevant equivalent experience in lieu of diploma / GED.
• 0-2+ years working within healthcare, insurance, business, finance or customer service.
• Working knowledge of insurance claims, billing, coding, follow-up, finance, accounting or customer service-related responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Verify eligibility with insurance companies.
• Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding co-pays, deductibles, denials, and COB issues.
• Resolve accounts timely and effectively.
• Provide excellent customer service with a compassionate communication emphasis.
• EOB knowledge and review.
• Complete all business-related requests and correspondence from patients.
• Complete all assigned projects in a timely manner.
• Assist client and patients in all requested tasks.
• Communicate to Guidehouse management areas of concern or improvement.
• Research and respond to patient inquiries by phone and mail.

What You Will Do

The Patient Account Representative - A/R Follow Up Team is an extension of a client's business office staff. Representatives are responsible for taking in-coming and out-going calls to patients and insurance companies to resolve patient accounts. All client policies and procedures are followed. Representatives will perform any and all job-related duties as assigned
This position will be based Monday through Friday out of our San Antonio, TX office.

Individuals must be able to work an eight-hour shift between the hours of 8:30 AM CT - 5:30 PM CT, with no remote work initially but opportunity for some hybrid (in office/remote) after training.

• Verify eligibility with insurance companies


• Communicate with patients and insurance companies regarding co-pays, deductibles, denials, and Cost of Benefit (COB) issues.


• Resolve accounts timely and effectively.


• Provides excellent customer service with a compassionate communication emphasis


• EOB knowledge and review


• Complete all business-related requests and correspondence from patients.


• Complete all assigned projects in a timely manner.


• Assist client and patients in all requested tasks.


• Communicate to Guidehouse management areas of concern or areas of improvement.


• Research and respond to all patient inquiries received by telephone and mail.


• Update patient demographic information and initiate account adjustments.

What You Will Need

• High School Diploma / GED or 3 years of relevant equivalent experience in lieu of diploma / GED.


• 0-2+ years working within the following sectors: healthcare, insurance, business, finance or customer service.


• Working knowledge can be of the following: insurance claims, billing, coding, follow-up, finance, accounting or customer service-related responsibilities.

What Would Be Nice To Have

• PC skills in a Windows environment. Knowledge and utilization of desktop applications to include Word and Excel.


• 1+ year experience working in a Healthcare or Customer Service setting.


• Ability to initiate and follow through on projects and work independently with minimal supervision.


• Bilingual Spanish
