Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a remote Patient Account Representative to join our team. You will resolve unpaid accounts, perform claim edits, billing, follow up, and processing of payments and adjustments to meet client AR goals.

The role is fully remote with inbound and outbound calls, requiring knowledge of claims follow-ups, payer portals, and EMR/EHR systems. Prior experience in healthcare customer service is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 3+ years of relevant equivalent experience in lieu of diploma / GED.
• 1-3+ years working within revenue cycle, health insurance, or healthcare customer service.
• Working knowledge of medical insurance claims follow-ups, payer portals, and clearinghouses.
• Working experience with an EHR and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve denied and underpaid claims.
• Handle incoming and outbound calls from clients.
• Follow up on accounts to meet cash and AR goals.
• Maintain confidentiality of system and payer website access.
• Communicate with third party payers to obtain status and payment.
• Stay current with billing regulations and contract terms.

What You Will Do:

The Patient Account Representative is an extension of a client's business office staff. Patient accounting representatives are responsible for timely and effective resolution of unpaid accounts. They perform a variety of duties including claim editing, billing, follow up, and payment and adjustment processing in order to meet the client cash and A/ R goals.

This is a 100% remote position.

The qualified individual will be receiving incoming calls and making outbound calls.

• Analyzes and researches reasons for denied and underpaid claims.
• Determines and executes best approach for resolution.
• Identifies issues and trends and reports to manager.
• Maintains confidential system and payer website access.
• Follows QBS account management protocols and strategies.
• Maintains current knowledge of all relevant systems as well as federal and state billing regulations.
• Maintains current knowledge of contract terms and conditions related to claim resolution.
• Corresponds with third party payers, according to established protocols, to obtain status and payment.
• Communicates with clients, as needed, to expedite claim resolution.
• Performs any and all job-related duties, as assigned, in a professional and positive manner to ensure achievement of cash and A/ R goals.

What You Will Need :

• High School Diploma or GED or 3+ years of relevant equivalent experience in lieu of diploma / GED.
• 1-3+ years working within revenue cycle, health insurance, or healthcare customer service.
• Working knowledge of the following: medial insurance claims follow-ups, payer portals, and clearinghouses.
• Working experience with an EHR and EMR systems.

What Would Be Nice to Have:

• Meditech Experience
• Epic Experience
• PC skills in a Windows environment. Knowledge and utilization of desktop applications to include Word and Excel.
• Bilingual Spanish
• 1+ year experience working in a Healthcare or Customer Service setting.
• Ability to initiate and follow through on projects and work independently with minimal supervision.

The annual salary range for this position is $31,000.00-$51,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
