The Patient Account Registrar interviews patients or their representatives to obtain demographics, secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations. Works closely with all facets of the Physical Therapy department. Must operate a computer to input and retrieve data. Communicates effectively with patients of all ages, utilizing age-specific techniques from neonatal to geriatrics. Maintains proficiency in medical terminology. May be assigned special projects with specific completion deadlines.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING: 1. Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred. 2. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. 3. Effective written and verbal communication skills. 4. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines. 5. Analytical and problem-solving skills. 6. Customer service experience required. 7. High School Graduate or GED Equivalent required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).
