SUMMARY

The Patient Access Team Leader will oversee team scheduling and provide day-to-day employee supervision and administrative support to promote effective team performance and operations. The Patient Access Team Leader will also be an active part of the Patient Access department. They will be responsible for servicing patient relationships through office communications and provider referrals, including answering and directing phone calls, scheduling patient appointments, managing referrals, and utilizing office technology.

  • Oversee daily operations of the Patient Access team
  • Perform front-line supervisory responsibilities, including scheduling, attendance management and performance evaluations
  • Answer incoming phone calls in a timely manner and create telephone encounters to document patient questions, concerns or requests for clinical staff and physicians to review
  • Schedule appointments as requested by the patient, the patient’s referring provider or the Orthopaedic Associates physician
  • Accurately enter and/or update new information on the patient’s demographics in his/her chart
  • Assign and distribute fax documents
  • Check the patient’s billing status before scheduling
  • Utilize secure messaging systems to communicate with providers
  • Respond to patient messages and scheduling requests through texting tools
  • Be aware of ongoing health system relationships and affiliations
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, company policies, and procedures.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with patients, providers, and coworkers
  • Ability to use computers and learn and utilize electronic medical records, scheduling systems, communication platforms, and other office technology.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, remain organized, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED certificate required. Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university preferred. Minimum of 3 years healthcare experience preferred, Epic experience is a plus. Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
