Patient Access Switchboard Operator, part time, days

Overview

Apply at Holland, MI. This is a part-time position during daytime hours. Current Holland Hospital employees should apply through their Workday account.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the face of the hospital, providing exceptional customer service.
• Complete demographic and financial order entry within the Cerner EHR system.
• Verify patient identification and scan ID and insurance cards into EHR.
• Interview patients and verify or update medical records at each visit.
• Understand multiple payers and interpret necessary information.
• Identify and enter correct guarantor information, including minors, clients, or legal guardians.
• Explain and obtain signatures on registration forms.
• Assist with wayfinding questions and direct patients as needed.
• Act as a preceptor when required.

Job Details

Employment Type: Part time (includes 2 holidays per year)

Shift: Varied, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Hours per week: 12

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Wage Range: $14.75 - $19.62

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or higher education.
• Experience with demographic and financial registration, including verifying patient identity, scanning documents, and updating records.
• Ability to interpret payer information and respond appropriately.
• Knowledge of entering correct guarantor data for minors, clients, or legal guardians.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining forms and assisting patients.
• Ability to respond calmly during emergencies and prioritize calls effectively.
