Description:
Acts as a receptionist, greeting patients and visitors. Interviews and registers new and established patients. Schedules patients for appointments in the computer system. Performs all point of service collection activities, including co-pays, ROA's, self-pay, high-risk accounts, and balancing cash drawers. Incorporates customer service standards when interacting with colleagues and/or consumers. Conducts insurance verification utilizing real-time eligibility. Acts as a collaborating member of the Medical Group. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and culture of MercyOne.

What you will do:

  • Greet patients and visitors
  • Interview patients to verify information and enter data into the computer system
  • Conduct insurance verifications, scan insurance cards, and update the computer system
  • Schedule appointments for patients
  • Collect payments such as co-pays and balances due
  • Update database consistently

Hours/Schedule:

  • 40 hours biweekly, part-time, days only, no weekends or holidays

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English; effective communication with patients and colleagues
  • One (1) year experience in a medical clinic setting preferred
  • Completion of a Medical Secretary program preferred
