Job summary

Trinity Health Newton is seeking an experienced leader for the Patient Access division. The role involves supervising outpatient registration, ER registration, admissions, bed assignment, and financial counseling, while driving KPI reporting and patient flow efficiency.

The position requires 3–5 years in leadership within Patient Access, 5 years in related areas, and a HFMA CHFP/CRCR/NAHAM CHAM certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of leadership experience within Patient Access.
• 5 years of experience in Patient Access areas such as Registration, Insurance Verification/Financial Clearance, or Financial Counseling.
• Certification in HFMA CHFP or CRCR or NAHAM CHAM within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all functional areas of the hospital patient access workflow (registration points, ER registration, admissions, bed assignment, financial counseling).
• Monitor patient tracking and financial clearance activities to meet key performance standards.
• Oversee investigations and resolutions of patient/family or staff complaints.
• Assist registrars with patient questions on payments and charges and ensure policy compliance.

FUNCTIONAL ROLE

• Maintains &demonstratesknowledge to successfully supervise each functional area of the hospital including, but not limited to all outpatient registration points, emergency room registration, admissions, bed assignment & financial counseling.

• Regularlymonitorsthe patient tracking system, registrationreports& financialclearance activities to ensure patients are registered within key performance standards.

• Monitors all financial clearance activity ensuring all accounts are verified at time of service & meet medical necessity requirements.

• Coordinatesinvestigation & appropriate resolutionof problems from patient/family or staff complaints.

• Resolvespatient questionsregardingpayment requirements/charges referred by the registrars.

• Provides operational guidance & support to assignedteam,disseminatespolicy/procedure updates, supportscoverage of other departmental divisions asrequired.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field of study or equivalent combination of education & / or experience.

Three (3) to Five (5) years of leadership experience within Patient Access

Five (5) years of relevant experience in functional areas of Patient Access such as Registration,

Insurance Verification/Financial Clearance, Financial Counseling, or other relevant experience.

Obtain national certification in HFMA CHFP or CRCR or NAHAM CHAM required within one (1) year of hire.
