Job summary

Corewell Health’s Taylor hospital seeks a part-time Patient Registration Clerk to register patients, schedule and pre-register, and collect insurance/Demographics. The role rotates departments including emergency, outpatient, labs, with an 8:00 am to 4:30 pm orientation in the first week.

Responsibilities include handling calls, HIPAA-compliant communication, and preparing liability estimates. Requires MS Office skills and ICD coding knowledge; includes weekend rotation and 20 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 CPT coding, medical terminology, and/or revenue cycle knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and use information systems.
• Experience with spreadsheets and word processing software; keyboard proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and timely, collecting biographical data.
• Schedule appointments and pre-register, collecting insurance and demographics.
• Answer phones and route calls courteously.
• Explain information to patients per HIPAA regulations.
• Prepare patient liability estimates for services.
• Assist with authorizations for imaging protocols or scripts.
• Transport and escort patients as needed.
• Maintain safety and perform related duties as assigned.
