Job Overview

Ensemble is hiring a Patient Access Specialist to perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital. This onsite position is located at Tower – St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA, and requires candidates to work on-site. The role involves performing all associated admission tasks while meeting the mission and goals of the organization and all regulatory compliance requirements. The Representative will work within the policies and processes that are currently in place across the entire organization.

Salary: $17.00 – $18.15 per hour based on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity/compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, and process physician orders.
  • Utilize the overlay tool while providing excellent customer service measured by Press Ganey.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter‑office calls.
  • Provide compassionate customer service in all interactions.
  • Adhere to point‑of‑service goals and quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected.
  • Conduct audits of accounts, assure all forms are completed accurately and timely, and provide statistical data to leadership.
  • Pre‑register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial liability information, and collect point‑of‑service collections and past‑due balances with payment plan options.
  • Explain and obtain signatures for consent and other required forms, and distribute patient education documents.
  • Review insurance eligibility responses, select applicable insurance plan code, and enter benefit data to support point‑of‑service collections and billing processes.
  • Screen medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software for Medicare patients and distribute ABN as appropriate; document other designated forms and pamphlets.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.
