Job description

Patient Access Specialist

Performs specialized Patient Access functions through application and interpretation of policies and procedures, requiring independent judgment in a medical setting. This includes mastery of registration, insurance, scheduling, and billing/POS collections (OLJ) across multiple locations with varying clinical demands and registration criteria. Additionally, Patient Access Specialists serve as the first point of contact regarding Financial Assistance by conducting financial screening, offering mini screenings at registration, and referring patients to Financial Coordinators for counseling and support.

  1. Demonstrates exceptional customer service both in person and via telephone.
  2. Adheres to behaviors aligned with the Medical Center and Revenue Cycle access systems, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  3. Handles funds, issues receipts, balances cash journals, and makes deposits.
  4. Maintains current knowledge and complies with Revenue Cycle policies and procedures; performs problem-solving activities.
  5. Supports area-specific activities as assigned.
  6. Engages actively with the work team and aligns with Revenue Cycle goals.
  7. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $15.68 - $24.30 Hourly

Minimum Requirements

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: No experience required.
Licensure: None required.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary role involving extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel may be required for meetings and programs.
