Patient Access Coordinator

The Patient Access Specialist/Coordinator (PAS) is responsible for accurately obtaining demographic and financial information, completing registrations, verifying insurance details, obtaining necessary authorizations, and ensuring correct room placement and documentation. The role requires knowledge of medical terminology, effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in computer and office procedures.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Ability to discuss personal and financial matters diplomatically
  • Problem-solving and process efficiency skills
  • Knowledge of insurance benefits, coverage, and collection procedures
  • Organizational skills and resource utilization
  • Typing speed of 35-40 words per minute
  • Knowledge of computer keyboard usage
