Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System’s Methodist Hospital in Omaha seeks a Patient Access Professional for casual, as-needed work in the Admitting Department. You will greet patients, verify demographics and payer information, and perform point-of-service collections while ensuring EMTALA compliance.

Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) and courteous communication are essential. High school diploma or GED preferred; prior health care registration or billing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in health care registration, customer service, insurance or billing is preferred.
• American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients professionally and verifies demographic and payer information.
• Registers patients and verifies eligibility and collects payments as needed.
• Ensures EMTALA guidelines are followed during the registration and triage process.
• Updates patient records electronically and refers to financial counselors when appropriate.
• Documents and communicates financial responsibilities and assists with POS collections.
