Job summary

High Desert Heart and Vascular is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our outpatient cardiology team. The role emphasizes friendly patient interaction, efficient scheduling, and accurate data entry in the EMR.

You will handle calls, co-pays, referrals, and insurance verification to ensure smooth patient flow. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least one year in a fast-paced receptionist role, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a receptionist position in a fast-paced environment.
  • Medical office experience in a multi-provider office preferred.
  • Computer proficient with good typing skills.
  • Prior experience with EMR preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and phone support for high-volume calls.
  • Register patients in EMR and verify demographics.
  • Collect co-payments and post payments accurately in EMR.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals as needed.
  • Maintain clean and presentable reception and waiting areas.
  • Identify accepted insurance plans and verify eligibility.

High Desert Heart and Vascular is an independently owned and operated, cardiovascular practice, bringing an unparalleled standard of excellence to our patients. We are seeking experienced professionals to join our team in our outpatient cardiology setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides support to the clinic, physicians, billing, clinical staff, and most importantly, the patient.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Responsible for greeting all patients in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
  • Provides friendly and efficient telephone services, handling high-volume calls, screening inquiries for urgency, coordinating referrals with clinical staff and external providers, and ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Registers patients in EMR system, verifies demographics and updates accordingly.
  • Collects co-payments, prepares patient receipts, and posts payments accurately via EMR.
  • Collects external/internal mail daily basis and distributes appropriately.
  • Keeps reception area and waiting rooms clean and presentable.
  • Able to identify all accepted insurance plans and cards.
  • Checks insurance eligibility obtains patient insurances referrals as needed.
  • Performs daily chart preparation ensuring that required documentation is prepared in advance to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Schedules appointments either via phone or in person.
  • Respects and maintains patient privacy and dignity.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year of experience in a receptionist position in a fast-paced environment
  • Medical office experience in a multi-provider office preferred.
  • Computer proficient with good typing skills
  • Prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong communication skills and pleasant phone manners
