Job summary

Albany Med Health System seeks a detail-oriented Patient Access representative in the Patient Engagement Center to register patients, update insurance information, and schedule visits, coordinating patient appointments efficiently.

You will use the electronic medical record to maintain patient records, adhere to payer requirements, and communicate with providers, patients, and insurers to ensure timely access and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years office experience or 1 year of related experience in a medical practice preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records and Microsoft Office a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a high-volume patient unit.
• Strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Good judgment and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, update insurance information, schedule visits, and coordinate appointment scheduling.
• Interact with a diverse patient population.
• Use the electronic medical record to maintain patient records during registration and scanning.
• Be knowledgeable about state and government agencies to provide proper consents for wards of the state; obtain consents from patient proxies.
• Adhere to payer requirements for referrals and authorizations.
• Schedule follow-up appointments, referrals, and prior authorizations.
• Communicate professionally with providers, patients, clinical care team, and insurers.
• Answer incoming calls and direct to team members.
• Maintain professional image by following dress code.
