Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative to handle registration, scheduling, and financial counseling in a fast-paced clinic. You will collect co-pays, verify authorizations, and coordinate with clinicians to ensure timely services.

The role requires a medical office background, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication to support patients and the access team. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Louisiana clinic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in medical office.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, authorization process and contracting.
• Ability to work independently with strong organizational and communication skills.
• ICD-9/10 and CPT coding a plus.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and private-payer practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, collect co-pays and deductibles, and verify authorizations.
• Schedule appointments, follow-ups, diagnostics and treatments, arranging authorizations where needed.
• Pre-registration and registration, verify demographics and insurance; collect payments.
• Provide patient financial counseling and direct to financial navigator when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
