Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Patient Access Coordinator to support patients and caregivers, acting as a liaison with the care team and managing complex clinic scheduling. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and proactive communication in a high-volume environment.

Under indirect supervision, you will coordinate multidisciplinary and ancillary clinic schedules, manage referrals, and leverage MS Office and Epic proficiency to improve access to care across MUSC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and three years related healthcare experience; or an Associate's degree and two years related healthcare experience; or a Bachelor's degree and one year healthcare related experience.
• Epic, Medical Office experience, call center experience, medical terminology and knowledge of insurance preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate complex follow-up appointments and ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate scheduling of multidisciplinary and ancillary clinics across the enterprise.
• Manage referral authorization processes and calendar coordination.
• Act as a liaison between patients and hospital care team and assist caregivers.
