MaineGeneral Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative to manage patient registration, verification, and communication in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
You will verify benefits, collect payments, and ensure accurate data entry while providing a positive patient experience and collaborating with hospital staff.
The Patient Access Representative plays an important role in creating a positive experience for patients and families by managing registration, verification, and communication processes. This position supports accurate and efficient patient intake while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Meets with patients or their caregivers to exchange required information and documentation, providing clear explanations of processes and addressing any questions or concerns. Communicates with unit staff and other appropriate personnel to coordinate necessary details and determine patient placement. Verifies insurance benefits, obtains precertification or authorization when needed, and ensures verification of medical necessity. Determines and collects required payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance, or refers patients to financial counselors for additional support. Accurately obtains, reviews, and enters all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information in the registration system in a timely manner. This role requires strong communication skills, accuracy, and a customer-focused approach, with flexibility to support various hospital or clinic departments as needed.
$18.25 - $31.94 The hourly pay range shown represents the base pay range for this position. Individual pay is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible team members may earn additional compensation through shift, weekend, holiday, on-call, and other applicable differentials.
