Job summary

SSM Health’s Waupun Memorial Hospital is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative. This role handles patient scheduling for procedures, collects demographics, insurance and clinical data, and coordinates pre-certification as needed.

The position requires basic patient access and EHR experience, strong customer service, and exceptional communication. Training hours precede regular shifts, with a flexible, on-site work environment at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with patient access, EHR and customer service is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with patients and staff to schedule prescribed procedures.
  • Collect demographic, insurance and clinical information for procedures.
  • Assist with pre-certification/authorization procedures.
  • Provide pre-service counseling and instructions to patients or representatives.
  • Handle clerical and reception duties related to patient registration.

PRN Patient Access Representative

Schedule : PRN position, variable shifts based on department needs. Minimum of two 8 hour shifts and two 4 hour shifts per month, to include on-call rotation. Training hours are 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM for the first two weeks of employment.

Job Summary:

Responsible for communicating with patients, participants and staff to accurately schedule patients for prescribed procedures and gather the necessary demographic, insurance and clinical information for the procedure.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers information from patient and enters into appropriate database. Seeks appropriate resources to resolve issues about the type, date or location of prescribed procedures.

  • Schedules patient procedures in a manner that most efficiently utilizes the patient’s time and clinical resources. Coordinates and communicates schedules.

  • Assists with coordination of activities related to insurance pre-certification/authorization.

  • Provides counseling to patient, participant or their representative regarding pre-service requirements and instructions.

  • Performs clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
EXPERIENCE
  • No experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
